Kirkland Argentinian Malbec 2024
I've been drinking wines in the 10-25 dollar range for the past few reviews, so I decided to grab something a little more economical this time. I'd had this wine (but not this vintage) in the past but this was my first time trying it in several years.
Nose is spice (cinnamon?), and apple. Medium-Full bodied, nice tannin structure, some acidity. I let it sit for a half hour and the flavors were a little muted. The remainder was more vibrant the next day. Could probably easy sit for an hour or two before drinking.
Dry mouthfeel, blackberries, plum, chocolate. A good Malbec. Had it with food both times, great for clearing the mouth with the rather cheesy Tarte au Brie I was eating.
Good value, good flavor, needs time to breathe though if you'd like more of those fruit flavors. Better and cheaper than your average Malbec so gets a thumbs up from me.
Interestingly it went right to my head, much more than I would have expected for a 14% wine. I was rather toasted after two glasses. Beware if you have anything to do after drinking...
